Ash class has 9 students, 3 teaching staff and a speech and language therapist. Ash students range in age from Year 3 to Year 7 but are working on a differentiated and adapted curriculum.
Ash class follows an adapted timetable focusing on OT, sensory needs and life skills as well as traditional subjects such as English and Maths. The class learns in a carousel style, with students moving to different table top activities throughout a lesson, meaning students are always working 2:1 with an adult and getting two SLT activity inputs in all key lessons.
Staff involved - Key Teacher, Speech & Language Therapist, Learning Support staff and the OT's.
Learning levels -Ash students are following an adapted curriculum with most students working at a P5 to Year 1 level.
Core & Foundation Subjects - Key subjects are English(Language and Communication) and Maths.
Foundation subjects are Art, Accessing Technology, Drama, Music, P.E, Topic and Life Skills.
Life skills - We practice life skills throughout the day, from the morning routine through to how we walk around the school. Students also practice their life skills when they attend camp, go out trips, access the kitchen for cooking.
