Physical Activity

At Parayhouse School, we recognise our responsibility towards helping students and staff to establish and maintain a healthy lifestyle. We are aware of the role regular physical activity plays in maintaining and improving physical health, mental health and overall well-being. We strive to maximise opportunities for our students and staff to be physically active and to promote physical activity.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES:

All physical activity opportunities offered at Parayhouse School are designed to be inclusive and to cater for everybody, no matter what gender, race, disability, age and religion they are. For more information, please refer to the school’s Equal Opportunities policy.

Each class receives the following active time per week: a minimum of 1 hour PE, swimming or tennis, a daily 30 minutes afternoon fitness break, a daily 30 minutes morning play break.

In addition, some of our students access Occupational Therapy support.

Real PE

Parayhouse School follows the real PE scheme. Real PE helps support every child to develop the physical literacy, emotional and thinking skills to achieve in PE, Sport and life. The unique, child-centred approach transforms the way PE is taught to include, challenge and support every child.

It is fully aligned to the National Curriculum and Ofsted requirements and focuses on the development of agility, balance and coordination, healthy competition and cooperative learning through a unique and market-leading approach to teaching and learning in PE.
